Located behind the Royal Institute of Technology, facing the Liljan forest you will find GIH’s (Swedish School of Sports & Health science). With its tranquil green surroundings and outdoor tennis courts, it offers perfect settings for a sports summer camp!Flag football is played with 2 teams of 6-7 people. A player starts the game by serving the ball to a fellow player in a so-called “non-run zone”. The team has 4 attempts to get to the center line and then 4 attempts to get to the “end line”. After these attempts, the ball passes to the other team. The opponents try to prevent the team by taking the player who is in possession of the ball by their flags/tails. Each player has 2 flags hanging on the side of their hip. Flag football is not a contact sport, so you may only tag by taking flags from the player holding the ball and you may not take the ball out of the opponent’s hands. When the ball goes to the ground, the flag is pulled loose by a defender or the player with the ball runs over the touchline/scores, the attemp is over.

Multi-Sport Camp is a day camp for children and youths at 6-16 years. The camps are individualized, and group division is according to age. During the summer camp week, we train more than 12 sports, all under the guidance of professional and dedicated coaches.During the camp week, we will teach technic, tactics/strategy, psychology and mental training in our selected sports. We train several hours each day and our experienced coaches adapt the training to the right level and age. At the beginning of the week, the training will be focused on instructions and technic training. At the end of the week, we focus on the games of sports.

The international camp is training parallel with the Swedish speaking camp. At this camp, there will be 5 groups of Swedish speaking and 3 groups of English speaking. When coaches are training with the international groups the coaches will only be speaking EnglishOne theme that exists throughout the camp is Fair Play and sportsmanship. We encourage how one should behave to be a true sportsman and an example to others. The performance is assessed throughout the week before, during and after the activities by the coaches. We give this honourable prize to a boy and a girl every week who have shown great sportsmanship deserving the Fair Play prize.

The game is played with 2 teams of 2 people. According to the official website, Spikeball is played as follows, “a player starts a point by serving the ball down onto the Spikeball net so it ricochets up at his opponents. They have up to 3 hits between them (think bump, set, spike) to control the ball and bounce it back off the net. When they miss, you score. The first team to 21 wins.The game was first invented in 1965 by three dads in the United States with bored kids. It slowly made its way to Canada and is now the country’s fastest-growing sport.

The goals of this week of sports are of course that the students will have the opportunity to try and develop within the different sports. But also, that the children and young people should develop as team players and individuals and thrive in the community with many new comrades. In short, a week that contains most of it!

At the Swedish School of Sports & Health Science, our future sports scientists and sports coaches are educated. Since the start of the Multi-Sport Camp, in the summer of 2005, many of the students of the school are looking for summer-jobs at camp activities and we believe that is the primary and best combination to bring pure sports coaches to our camps. The coaches at camp make sure that the participants get a safe, developing and eventful camp. I Storbritannien går man precis som i Sverige 13 år i skolan. Primary School är årskurs 1-6 och Secondary School är 7-11. De två sista åren kallas för Sixth Form eller College och det är där de flesta utbytesstudenterna hamnar. Nu till det mest spännande av allt: skoluniform! De flesta skolor har skoluniform upp till Sixth Form. Då är det vanligare att inte ha uniform än att ha skoluniform skulle jag säga. På min skola har vi istället en strikt dress code som innebär att vi måste ha en svart blazer och övriga kläder ska vara svart och vita.Jag läser till exempel engelsk litteratur, geografi och tyska. Jag tycker att kombinationen är jättekonstig, men det är jag ensam om att tycka för här finns det inga konstiga kombinationer. Systemet med A levels bygger mycket på eget ansvar. Tanken bakom är att man ska vara förberedd inför universitet. Det gäller bara att vara inställd på att allt är annorlunda så går allt superbra.

I början av årskurs 12 påbörjar man kurser som kallas för A Levels. A står för advanced och allt detta innebär att allt är lite svårare än i årskurs 11. A levels läser man över två år och sedan avslutas årskurs 13 med stora avslutningsprov. Ta chansen och prova på nya saker i skolan! En del skolor har någon form av klubbar eller små sportklubbar. Varje fredag spelar jag nu netball och jag fattar fortfarande inte vad jag gör, men jag har jätteroligt och jag har dessutom fått nya kompisar. Ohhh, en sista sak, man får ingen skollunch utan man måste ha med egen lunch eller köpa lunch i skolan. Om ni får med er en “packed lunch” kommer den garanterat innehålla en påse “crisps”, för det älskar britter.Vanligtvis läser man tre eller fyra ämnen, vilket innebär att man verkligen fördjupar sig inom sina ämnen. Därför är det viktigt att välja ämnen som är intressanta, annars blir skolan supertråkig. En jättebra grej är ju att man kan läsa just de ämnena man vill läsa.
